Our first convoy in 2014 was a huge learning curve for myself and my fellow committee members. With little knowledge and in just 8 months we organised the first annual Riverina Truck Show and Kids Convoy in Wagga Wagga.
With 100 trucks participating in the Truck Show and Convoy, 30+ exhibitors and Trade displays, approximately 2000-3000+ visitors through out the day and an unknown number watching the Convoy through the most populated areas of Wagga Wagga. Our total raised for Camp Quality was $21,000.00
The 2015 Riverina Truck Show and Kids Convoy was held on a glorious day with 190 trucks, 12 cars and 8 bikes in the parade through the streets of Wagga Wagga.
This year saw a change of venue to Apex Park on the foreshores of Lake Albert, with the lake backdrop and over 190 immaculately polished trucks on display the public came out to support us in our charity fundraising event.
Approximately 7000-9000 people where there on the day and the atmosphere was amazing. From the thrills of the amusement rides to the grand finale fireworks display our months of planning paid off. This year we raised $28,380.00. Funds raised were donated to Wagga Base Hospital Children's Ward, Snowy Hydro South Care Helicopter, Trans-Help Foundation and Camp Quality.
The Riverina Truck Show and Kids Convoy returned in 2016 to the city for the third year with 20 cars and 105 trucks. They snaked their way through Wagga before settling at Lake Albert, where almost 8000 people came to have a look at the vehicles on display.
The market stalls and trade displays were well patronised with something for everyone. The thrills of the amusement rides kept the kids happy all day with those who wanted to take it easy sat and enjoyed the amazing talent from local bands playing into the evening.
This year’s event raised $40,000 which was distributed between Give me 5 For Kids, Amie St Clair Melanoma Trust, Riding for Disabled, Trans-Help Foundation and NETS NSW.
The 4th annual Riverina Truck Show and Kids Convoy started off under stormy skies in the morning with the trucks assembling at Bomen Livestock Marketing Centre. 158 trucks registered for our second biggest convoy since we started in 2014.
Andrew Bell from Lindsay Transport once again was lead truck with a winning bid of $10,050 with Ben McNully from Federation Bulk Haulage second with a bid of $2000.
11:30 saw them roll out in convoy through the streets of Wagga lead by The HOGS group. The crowds lining the streets and showing their appreciation for the drivers and the effort they put in cleaning and polishing trucks after working all week show. Credit goes to the those who arrived in Wagga late Friday night and set about cleaning and polishing into the wee hours of Saturday.
The family fun day at Lake Albert and Ron Wheeler Park was well patronised with approx. 7000 visitors throughout the day.
The market and trade stalls doing a roaring business with the amusements packed all day. Live music was provided by Eve, Metropolis (a Canberra Based band) and local bands Social Hand Grenade and Deja Groove
